Skype for windows

skypeenglish at lists.tffppodcast.com (Mike DeZinno via Skypeenglish)...

Hello Ken,
Thanks for the great detailed problem solving info.
I see you mentioned specific third party software, is there a way to
contact you outside of our Skype forum, I have a few questions and I didn't
want to disrespect the Skype only rules here.
Thanks,
Mike

another idea. to anyone on this list if you don???t have it get Ccleaner
that???s c, cleaner. I run it each time I do any antivirus or malware
scan if it picks up a problem. I use not only windows defendor for 10 but
also malware bytes. if either one gets something I will then run
ccleaner. it does the same thing disk cleanup does and more. cleans up
the extra stuff in your registery too. note that if you run ccleaner
you???ll likely have to reenter passwords when you log on to sites like
facebook or pandora but that ccleaner really does a good job. also make
sure firefox is up to date that could be it. but run that anti virus and
malware scan you???ve likely got something in there. that is a very
unusual event. any time something unusual happens on my machine I run
scans with defendor or malware bytes or both. even it it turns out to be
a false alarm. better safe then sorry Huh?

Again what I would suggest is in this order.

1. Uninstall ff and restart
2. Uninstall skype and restart
3. Run a reg cleaner if you have one and restart
4. Reinstall skype and restart
5. Log in and see if you still get that cookie prompt
6. Restart, reinstall firefox and restart and sign into skype to see if
you get the issue. If you do you know the culpret is FF not skype.

hope that helps a bit.

I use Skype for windows, the latest of course. However, I took my
laptop to work couple of days ago and signed out from Skype to not
receive alerts or that I may forgotten to set it on do not disturb.
Anyway, I went to sign back in and it gave me the following message.
Cookies must be allowed. I figured on my default browser, which is
firefox how to change that and I enabled cookies. Well, the same
message is still being spoken even after uninstalling both twice,
Skype and firefox. I even removed all Skype data from the C. Still,
that hasn't fixed the problem. It insists to remember my Skype name,
and the password field is not even shown because it is remembered
despite two attempts to remove all Skype related information. Most
absurdly, though, I even attempted to create new account and well, the
process is never finished because the service is temporarily
unavailable. That's the message I get when I am almost done. This is
frustrating indeed and I'd like to notify Skype developers, that I am
extremely disappointed with their service. The quality of what used
to be the worldwide reliable chat client is not good enough. Please,
pass this on to whoever works for them. I believe some Skype
developers may watch the list and thus, I wanted to make this clear,
this is heavily unsatisfying.

Sorry for assuming you were blind.
Since this is a forum for blind Skype users we just would assume anyone
asking the kind of questions you asked was also blind.

If you are sighted then most likely you aren't using any third party text
to speech screen reading software like Jaws so you may find our
suggestions may not be of any use to you since as blind users we have to
rely upon commands and techniques that are specific to the adaptive tech we

have to use.

But the good news is if you are sighted there is a lot more help
available on-line that can address most problems most people would run into

and that help is available in more formats and more languages.

hang in there and good luck with your search, Skype is really great once
you get it up and running.

Stay well,
Mike

I also never have heard of this. I would uninstall skype and FF, scan
the
computer with avast or what ever you use, reinstall skype, sign in,
reinstall firefox, and see if that goes away.

If you have any complaints contact skype through the contact form they
have
on their page. I would use the forums but they have become inaccessible
for
mac and windows on a;; browsers and nvda.

Hi all. My work will be switching to office 365 Skype for business for
Mac,
for instant messaging purposes. Has anybody had any experience with
this?
How accessible is this with voiceover?
Any information people can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Amen Ken!
Skype gives their product away for free to the entire world and has for
years on the hope that some day they will find some way to be repaid
that
won't have to come from it's free subscribers.

As a fellow blind person I'm just glad that they created something that
most of the time we can use that works at all!

Next month will be 30 years since I first got involved with screen
reading
tech and computers that are blind accessible.
If you think it's frustrating now you should have been around 30, 25,
or
even 20 years ago when they were telling the blind community that DOS
was
the best we would ever get and Windows would never be accessible for
the
blind! LOL
Oh, not to mention anything and everything in those days had to be
bought
and paid for, even the things that didn't work at all you bought at
your
own risk no one gave any guarantees, and no such thing as a 30 day free
trial! LOL

As a community we need to have a greater attitude of gratitude, and
just
not be so hair triggered to start finger pointing at developers that
disappoint us when using their free stuff. LOL

That's why we are all here now to help each other cover the ground in
the
middle that the sighted world doesn't even know exists or for sure
never
gives it much thought during their day while they are trying to carve
out
their own way to survive.

I'm very grateful to all of you in our little blind Skype community who
helped me several years ago get my Skype feet wet. I have had much
success

working with it and have been able to do things that I once was told by
well meaning sighted people would be impossible for the blind to ever
do.

Love to all of you for what you do for all of us, and a very special
thanks

to Mr. Doug Lee.

For ever grateful,
Mike

automaticly when windows starts. you might before complaining about
how
rotten skype is to developers work on troubleshoting a problem. did
you
scan for viruses/malware? what windows version are you using and a few
other things like that to consider. but don't blame developers for
every
little issue. the developers of programs or websites don't owe any of

Subject: [Skypeenglish] Skype for windows

Skype for windows

skypeenglish at lists.tffppodcast.com (ken lawrence via Skypeenglish)...

another idea. to anyone on this list if you don?t have it get Ccleaner that?s c, cleaner. I run it each time I do any antivirus or malware scan if it picks up a problem. I use not only windows defendor for 10 but also malware bytes. if either one gets something I will then run ccleaner. it does the same thing disk cleanup does and more. cleans up the extra stuff in your registery too. note that if you run ccleaner you?ll likely have to reenter passwords when you log on to sites like facebook or pandora but that ccleaner really does a good job. also make sure firefox is up to date that could be it. but run that anti virus and malware scan you?ve likely got something in there. that is a very unusual event. any time something unusual happens on my machine I run scans with defendor or malware bytes or both. even it it turns out to be a false alarm. better safe then sorry Huh?

Again what I would suggest is in this order.

1. Uninstall ff and restart
2. Uninstall skype and restart
3. Run a reg cleaner if you have one and restart
4. Reinstall skype and restart
5. Log in and see if you still get that cookie prompt
6. Restart, reinstall firefox and restart and sign into skype to see if you get the issue. If you do you know the culpret is FF not skype.

hope that helps a bit.

As a fellow blind person I'm just glad that they created something that most of the time we can use that works at all!

Next month will be 30 years since I first got involved with screen reading tech and computers that are blind accessible.
If you think it's frustrating now you should have been around 30, 25, or even 20 years ago when they were telling the blind community that DOS was the best we would ever get and Windows would never be accessible for the blind! LOL
Oh, not to mention anything and everything in those days had to be bought and paid for, even the things that didn't work at all you bought at your own risk no one gave any guarantees, and no such thing as a 30 day free trial! LOL

As a community we need to have a greater attitude of gratitude, and just not be so hair triggered to start finger pointing at developers that disappoint us when using their free stuff. LOL

That's why we are all here now to help each other cover the ground in the middle that the sighted world doesn't even know exists or for sure never gives it much thought during their day while they are trying to carve out their own way to survive.

I'm very grateful to all of you in our little blind Skype community who helped me several years ago get my Skype feet wet. I have had much success working with it and have been able to do things that I once was told by well meaning sighted people would be impossible for the blind to ever do.

Love to all of you for what you do for all of us, and a very special thanks to Mr. Doug Lee.

For ever grateful,
Mike

I would uninstall skype and FF, scan the
computer with avast or what ever you use, reinstall skype, sign in,
reinstall firefox, and see if that goes away.

If you have any complaints contact skype through the contact form they have
on their page. I would use the forums but they have become inaccessible for
mac and windows on a;; browsers and nvda.

Hi all. My work will be switching to office 365 Skype for business for Mac,
for instant messaging purposes. Has anybody had any experience with this?
How accessible is this with voiceover?
Any information people can provide would be greatly appreciated.

years on the hope that some day they will find some way to be repaid that
won't have to come from it's free subscribers.

As a fellow blind person I'm just glad that they created something that
most of the time we can use that works at all!

Next month will be 30 years since I first got involved with screen reading
tech and computers that are blind accessible.
If you think it's frustrating now you should have been around 30, 25, or
even 20 years ago when they were telling the blind community that DOS was
the best we would ever get and Windows would never be accessible for the
blind! LOL
Oh, not to mention anything and everything in those days had to be bought
and paid for, even the things that didn't work at all you bought at your
own risk no one gave any guarantees, and no such thing as a 30 day free
trial! LOL

As a community we need to have a greater attitude of gratitude, and just
not be so hair triggered to start finger pointing at developers that
disappoint us when using their free stuff. LOL

That's why we are all here now to help each other cover the ground in the
middle that the sighted world doesn't even know exists or for sure never
gives it much thought during their day while they are trying to carve out
their own way to survive.

I'm very grateful to all of you in our little blind Skype community who
helped me several years ago get my Skype feet wet. I have had much success

working with it and have been able to do things that I once was told by
well meaning sighted people would be impossible for the blind to ever do.

Love to all of you for what you do for all of us, and a very special thanks

to Mr. Doug Lee.

For ever grateful,
Mike

message is still being spoken even after uninstalling both twice,
Skype and firefox.

I installed skype in my laptop...what do I do next?

skypeenglish at lists.tffppodcast.com (Mike DeZinno via Skypeenglish)...

Good morning Randy,
Don't feel badly that screen confuses a lot of us in the beginning when we
first start using Skype.
I personally just would use the tab or shift tab keys to see if it will
move you to different fields on the screen where it may be asking you for
additional information such as:
your Skype user name or password, or even the field that says log in.
If you haven't already set up a Skype account again those same key strokes
will move you around the screen to find the information fields where you
can do all that also.
You did mention you were new at some of this but I wasn't sure how new you
meant you were so if my advice isn't helpful if you could share more
specific details we might be able to give you more relevant help.
The following list of things to let us know is a good place to start when
asking for specific help:
Mac or Windows
what OS are you running like Win7 or Win10
What screen reader are you using? and what version of that screen reader.
which version of Skype oare you trying to work with.
and then state your issue.

I know in the beginning it all seems pretty daunting but in time it becomes
pretty easy so please just hang in there and be kind to yourself, I promise
you it does get better.

Have a great weekend,
Mike

Look everyone, I never even mentioned the term blind in my message. I
reported a complaint as an end user. Whether I chose to use their free
or payable service, I have got to receive the same quality unless you
look at it from capitalistic point of view. Pay more, get better. If
someone here couldn't suggest technical tips, there is no need for
prejudice. By the way, in order to use Skype forum, you have to be
loged in. AS For scanning my windows, I have no threats. I scan my
drives almost daily because I use this laptop for daily activities.

I also never have heard of this.

There should be a sign in with a microsoft passport account label somewhere. If you can find it, hit it and put in your microsoft passport tmeail and pw.

Skype for windows

skypeenglish at lists.tffppodcast.com (Sarah Alawami via Skypeenglish)...

Again what I would suggest is in this order.

1. Uninstall ff and restart
2. Uninstall skype and restart
3. Run a reg cleaner if you have one and restart
4. Reinstall skype and restart
5. Log in and see if you still get that cookie prompt
6. Restart, reinstall firefox and restart and sign into skype to see if you get the issue. If you do you know the culpret is FF not skype.

hope that helps a bit.

message is still being spoken even after uninstalling both twice,

that hasn't fixed the problem.

I also never have heard of this. I would uninstall skype and FF, scan
the computer with avast or what ever you use, reinstall skype, sign in,
reinstall firefox, and see if that goes away.
If you have any complaints contact skype through the contact form they
have on their page. I would use the forums but they have become
inaccessible for mac and windows on a;; browsers and nvda.

Hi all. My work will be switching to office 365 Skype for business for
Mac, for instant messaging purposes. Has anybody had any experience
with this?

I have had much
success
working with it and have been able to do things that I once was told by
well meaning sighted people would be impossible for the blind to ever
do.
Love to all of you for what you do for all of us, and a very special
thanks
to Mr. Doug Lee.
For ever grateful,
Mike

Skypeenglish Digest, Vol 38, Issue 13

skypeenglish at lists.tffppodcast.com (Doug Lee via Skypeenglish)...

I may have missed something, so just in case...

I am not aware of any issues to resolve that would best be handled by scripting, but if anyone out there thinks otherwise, let me know.

change a setting or make a radical adjustment, our computer may not
change, instantly. Sometimes, it takes several restarts, before the
changes are rooted. These devices are strange animals, indeed. As to
Skype being as good as it gets, I can agree, it has many issues, not

Our Script Master does what he can, but there appears to be unresolved

I believe some Skype
developers may watch the list and thus, I wanted to make this clear,
this is heavily unsatisfying.

this doesn't seem to be a problem with firefox or skype never heard of
something like this. but I think you had better understand something
absolutely your not going to like this but I think everyone on this
list
will tell you the same. developers don't owe you or anyone else here
on
this list one thing. skype is still a very good and very reliable
product I
participated in a game on skype the other day with only one major issue
and
that was a a strange stuttering issue in the audio. I'm pretty sure it
was
weather related. not sure why you signed out I have my skype set to
sign me
in automaticly when skype starts. also have it set to start
automaticly
when windows starts. you might before complaining about how rotten
skype is
to developers work on troubleshoting a problem. did you scan for
viruses/malware? what windows version are you using and a few other
things
like that to consider. but don't blame developers for every little
issue.
the developers of programs or websites don't owe any of us anything
just
because we are blind. that's not something you may like to or even
want to
hear, but it's a fact.

Has anybody had any experience
with this? How accessible is this with voiceover?
Any information people can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Hope Paulos

I have had much
success
working with it and have been able to do things that I once was told by
well meaning sighted people would be impossible for the blind to ever
do.
Love to all of you for what you do for all of us, and a very special
thanks
to Mr. Doug Lee.
For ever grateful,
Mike

Mostafa, I?m sorry, you were chastised for stating your case. I thought, this was a non judgmental list and hope, it was just one member?s opinion. As to your computer not changing after you did what you could, you will learn, our computers don?t like change. When we change a setting or make a radical adjustment, our computer may not change, instantly. Sometimes, it takes several restarts, before the changes are rooted. These devices are strange animals, indeed. As to Skype being as good as it gets, I can agree, it has many issues, not yet addressed by Microsoft, as my questions to the list can attest. Our Script Master does what he can, but there appears to be unresolved issues and like you, I am left frustrated. Hugs, Frank of Paradise

I believe some Skype
developers may watch the list and thus, I wanted to make this clear,
this is heavily unsatisfying.

this doesn't seem to be a problem with firefox or skype never heard of
something like this. but I think you had better understand something
absolutely your not going to like this but I think everyone on this list
will tell you the same. developers don't owe you or anyone else here on
this list one thing. skype is still a very good and very reliable product I
participated in a game on skype the other day with only one major issue and
that was a a strange stuttering issue in the audio. I'm pretty sure it was
weather related. not sure why you signed out I have my skype set to sign me
in automaticly when skype starts. also have it set to start automaticly
when windows starts. you might before complaining about how rotten skype is
to developers work on troubleshoting a problem. did you scan for
viruses/malware? what windows version are you using and a few other things
like that to consider. but don't blame developers for every little issue.
the developers of programs or websites don't owe any of us anything just
because we are blind. that's not something you may like to or even want to
hear, but it's a fact.

I also never have heard of this. I would uninstall skype and FF, scan the computer with avast or what ever you use, reinstall skype, sign in, reinstall firefox, and see if that goes away.

If you have any complaints contact skype through the contact form they have on their page. I would use the forums but they have become inaccessible for mac and windows on a;; browsers and nvda.

Hi all. My work will be switching to office 365 Skype for business for Mac, for instant messaging purposes. Has anybody had any experience with this? How accessible is this with voiceover?
Any information people can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Amen Ken!
Skype gives their product away for free to the entire world and has for
years on the hope that some day they will find some way to be repaid that
won't have to come from it's free subscribers.

Love to all of you for what you do for all of us, and a very special thanks
to Mr. Doug Lee.

For ever grateful,
Mike

unavailable.

Office 365 Skype for business for Mac

skypeenglish at lists.tffppodcast.com (Hope Paulos via Skypeenglish)...

Hi all. My work will be switching to office 365 Skype for business for Mac, for instant messaging purposes. Has anybody had any experience with this? How accessible is this with voiceover?
Any information people can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Anyway, I went to sign back in and it gave me the following message.

Hello, you will need to find a chat, then find the voicemail within the chat, And then hit the enter key if you're using this on windows. In order to play a Skype voicemail, you would either hit enter for Windows, or from Mac you will get the up-and-down arrows together with quicny haveturned on.

Hoping it's not a bug of this latest Skype version... It's quite a long
time I don't get voicemails so I did not have any chance to test it out.
It's also true I am still at Windows 7 but I doubt that's the problem.
Bye!

Hoping it's not a bug of this latest Skype version... It's quite a long
time I don't get voicemails so I did not have any chance to test it out.
It's also true I am still at Windows 7 but I doubt that's the problem.
Bye!

Hoping it's not a bug of this latest Skype version... It's quite a long
time I don't get voicemails so I did not have any chance to test it out.
It's also true I am still at Windows 7 but I doubt that's the problem.
Bye!

When I get kicked out of Skype or the sound quality is too poor to continue, my chat partner will sned a Voice Message on Skype. I have tried everything to open them, to no avail. Does anyone know how to do this? It is so frustrating. Hugs, Frank of warming Paradise

Hello, you will need to find a chat, then find the voicemail within the chat, And then hit the enter key if you're using this on windows. In order to play a Skype voicemail, you would either hit enter for Windows, or from Mac you will get the up-and-down arrows together with quicny haveturned on.
