Re: Catching Up With Skype/Skype7 Currently On My Machine

Truth is, when I updated my website to account for Skype 8 now working on Windows 10, I missed the link he found on my main page. This is now fixed. And Skype 8.25 does work on Windows 10. I'm using it that way now myself.

Skype8.25 appears to be working properly with the current scripts I have in

clarification on this topic from the list if possible.

Re: Which Skype Do I Currently Have and which scripts should I have

Hi james

Firstly, to find out which version of skype you are currently running press
control/insert/v. if you still have 7.4, that's fine until September 1.

On that date Microsoft are removing this version from circulation and you
will have to decide whether you want to use skype 8.25, or UWP. The latter
is specifically for use with windows 10.

Skype 8 previously would not work with windows 10 but ms have changed this
approach and it's now available to be used on all windows versions.

If you want scripts for skype 8.25, current version, you can get these from
dlee.or/skype/electron

For UWP, universal windows platform, it's dlee.org/skype/uwp

If you are using JAWS, press JAWS Key plus Control plus V and it will tell you the version number. If you hear 8.25, you are running Skype from skype.com and need the Electron scripts from

http://www.dlee.org/skype/electron

If you hear that you are running the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) version, you need the scripts from

http://www.dlee.org/skype

NVDA add-ons are also available from the above pages.

So you checked the “none” radio button and it’s still doing it? If so check under jaws maybe? I dunno as I don’t really use jaws but I’ sure someone will have a better idea than I right now.

skype for windows 10 and skype 8.25 impressions

Marvin Hunkin <neilmarvin@...>

Hi. using windows 10 64 bit pro 1803 and got jaws 2018, latest July update. And well found skype 8.25 a bit confusing and also it did not port over one contact which was my second brother, but it does in the windows 10 universal app. Find it a much cleaner interface, not sure about voicemail, forwarding, as don’t do that, I am on a skype group with a whole bunch of sighted students doing a interactive gaming and digital media course from http://www.upskilled.edu.au, and also the skype 8.25 scripts did install, but did not load, and so got the scripts for the universal app, but just the default scripts. I would stick to thewindows 10 universal app, much easier for me.

Just my two cents worth.

And got it from the Microsoft store in Australia.

Indeed... but it looks like third-party developers of recording apps may not be using any sort of API at all. I'm still trying to get a direct answer from Microsoft on whether there *is* an API for this in Skype 8 or UWP, but
I'm thinking again that there is not.

Ok this one is a wake-up call to me! I see verification of your assertion, but until now I had assumed without question that MP3 Skype Recorder and all other API-dependent programs would not work at all in Skype 8 or UWP.

Initiating Microsoft queries for more info on this surprise...

The announcement of this support was posted on July 24, btw - about a week ago now. Makes me wonder if there is an API supported that has not been announced, or if an announced API supports more than I thought. Reference:

As Doug already stated there is an NVDA add-on that works with Skype
8.25. Speaking of that add-on, Doug you need to upload that to the NVDA
