Re: Help with history dividers
Will this work in nvda? I use nvda, or do I need to use my heading keys for this. I don't use skype with nvda on windows anymore, but if I ever have to, thought I'd ask here.

The more important number is the full Skype version number; but since I see no obvious cause for this situation, I'm trying to be as specific as I can about where it occurs. :-)

Re: Help with history dividers

As you arrow past a divider, like "Today," JAWS should say the divider's text as you arrow down and the text with the word "leaving" before it as you arrow up. So, when you arrow down to the first message under "today," JAWS
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
should say "Today" in a lower voice before announcing the new message. When you arrow up away from that message, JAWS should say "Leaving today," to indicate that you are leaving that section of the message history. If you are not hearing these messages and you know that you are crossing dividers, let me know which Skype 8 version you are running (Ctrl+Ins+V should tell you) and which JAWS version.

History in private conversations
Michele Barbi
Hello guys,
first of all, merry Xmas and happy holidays to all of you! Pardon the subject which can be a little confused, I'll explain the issue here in the message body. I'm having an issue with a friend of mine since her Skype auto-updated to version 8 electron in Windows 10. She sent to me, maybe by mistake, an invitation to make a private chat, and I accepted even if I did not get what it was; from that moment, when I chat with her I am unable to make the script for going to history work, meaning the command key followed by h. Note that I am using scripts revision 60, does rev 73 fix the problem? Or is it still a bug in this particular kind of chat? Bye! Barbuz

Re: making a call on skype out
Hello, if you go to the archives, you will be able to find the message there. You can also download the archive for off line reading and searching. I have not done this as of yet, but I might just to keep some key strokes and links in a file.

I totally agree. I have actually been fighting with my organization about using this in the first place, since it’s not terribly accessible. Unfortunately, the organization is not terribly receptive. Thanks for your help. Amy

Hello Amy,
Do you have duties other than monitoring and reacting to Skype chats? If yes, it is virtually impossible to manage all duties considering the high frequency of chats. You may need to talk to your boss about your job function.
With regards to excessive trash chats, they are distracting and hampering productivity. You may want to escalate to your boss. First, create an organization culture of minimizing trash chats. Second, encourage staff to create chat groups to talk about matter unrelated to work.

A real conundrum. I have to check messages as they come in every minute to 90 seconds. I authorize psychiatric emergency admission and I am a supervisor on the team. The problem is, people often use the I am to chat about unnecessary things and there are far too many messages. Amy

Hello Amy,
With that setting, messages will still come in witout alerting you. You need to manually check messages. Before invoking that feature, I think you need to ask yourself a few questions. How frequent do alerts pop up? How disruptive are alerts? How important are incoming messages? Nice to know, must know or immediate action required? How disciplined are you to check message at a regular interval? -- Desert

Pardon the novice question, I am very new to this program. If I shut off alerts, how will I know when a message comes in? I can’t ignore the messages, I just don’t want them to interrupt my other work and want to have control over when I view them. Thank you Amy

Hello Amy,
I use Skype for Business at work. As far as I can remember, you can shut off alerts: 1. Settings 2. Alerts 3. Generl Alerts 4. Select “Don’t show alerts” -- Desert

Amy Ruell <aruell@...>
Hello all,
I am new to Skype for business. When a message comes in from a group that I must monitor, Jaws automatically focuses on that window, interrupting anywork I am trying to get done. Is there a setting I can change so this will not happen? Thanks.

I recently asked a sighted friend to find Skype Electron for me at the MS website. They couldn't seem to locate it under that name so they downloaded the Desktop version. This is what came to me: Skype-8.34.0.78.exe Is this the correct version I need to put onto a new machine running Windows 10 and Jaws 2019? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike in SC
