Adding a second caller to a Skype Call

Steve Matzura

I'm re-asking this in case it didn't make it to the list, but I saw it come through, so maybe nobody knows the answer. How  is a second call added to an in-progress Skype call? in version 7, one would go to the top of the conversations list, open the context menu with the Application key (in Windows, that is), and select the "invite to group call" choice, or however it was labeled. "Invite" was surely in its name. Since there is no more context menu, and I don't find a control on the screen to do this, is there some trick I don't know about yet? There *is* and "add to" button, but that's for outgoing calls. I tried it and it didn't work on the inbound side.

TIA

The page was loading completely; the material you're used to seeing on that page has been reorganized though, and is still undergoing a bit of reorganization. The Users Guide for the Skype 8 scripts now includes the download
link and can be reached from the "Latest user guide" link on the page you saw. I am in the process of adding material to explain this change across a growing number of projects.

For the curious, my plan for website format is now becoming this:
- For JAWS-only projects, the main page for each project becomes the user guide for the scripts, which itself contains any required download links.
- For JAWS+NVDA projects, the main page is a menu from which you can go to JAWS or NVDA branches.

I don't actually like the second part of that very well, so I may further simplify that path at some point. The goal here though is to get out of the very old system I've been using that has long confused people by mentioning
versions, revisions, and releases, all with different meanings. Also, the actual web content for each project is now becoming part of that project in version control, which scales a lot more effectively than what I did before
when I have a lot of projects. At last count, I see over 160 projects in which I've had an active hand.

For what it's worth, I was speaking to Microsoft Accessibility thru the
specialized help app of "Be My Eyes" and they were unaware of all the drama
with Skype 8 and JAWS. They suggested that someone who was knowledgeable
regarding the difficulties to contact them thru "Be My Eyes" so they could
be aware of it and offer help towards a solution. A little communication
might go a long way here.

In a company the size of Microsoft, I'm not surprised to hear a few people missed something that the company as a whole did not. I say the company as a whole did not miss the commotion because the company as a whole delayed the
demise of Skype 7. :-)

I also invite people to give feedback to Microsoft. I have done so repeatedly, though not through Be My Eyes as I have never used that app.

skype/phone for a radio station.

ken lawrence

Hi listers, ken here with a question. Our out-of-sight radio has set up a skype account for the station so that we DJs can take requests live, but there is a problem. In order to use it we must sign into it with our skype. As each of us tries signing in and signing out switching to our own regular skype accounts the station’s skype ends up being blocked. One of our DJs has set up a skype account specificly for his show but that seems like too much of a mess if all of us have our own accounts. Just like if all of us are using different email accounts for requests. So my question is this. Is there any way we can have one skype account/phone number for listeners to use and not have to worry about all the DJs signing in and out of it. Is there a way to loop the already existing account for the station so that which ever DJ is on air can field requests in the same way all of our email addresses are linked to the station’s email address?  Thanks.

So wait, you had the account blocked, by skype? Or by someone else? I don’t really know how that could have happened as we did this all the time when I was with several stations and skype never saw a problem with it. We just used the same station’s user name and pass words. That way they just thought. it was one person signing in.

Dear friends, I’m very sorry to inform you that if you are using Skype Electron, it is advisable for  you that you  shouldn’t update JAWS which was released today!

The matter of fact is that it is observed so many times that FS isn’t doing good amount of testing before updating JAWS.

If you update today’s version of JAWS, it will not announce of sending messages etc!

Hmm I dunno, that seems a bit odd, unless someone reported the account as abuse nd that’s what blocked it. Somethingn ehre does not make sense at all here.

Take care

Our station manager said that people sigining in and out skype kept blocking it. She unblocked it I don’t know what password or user name should be used but people were signing in to do their shows and signing out.  And skype thought block. Am not sure how people were signing into it.

So wait, you had the account blocked, by skype? Or by someone else? I don’t really know how that could have happened as we did this all the time when I was with several stations and skype never saw a problem with it. We just used the same station’s user name and pass words. That way they just thought. it was one person signing in.

Thanks.
