Yeah I couldn’t agree more Mike. When i first tried Skype 8 on the mac, I tried it briefly, I decided to totally abandon it, and have switched to zoom.

I really don’t see a big deal. Everything is tabable, and  and  microsoft will not go back on their promise, so I say use it and get used to it. It’s a lot better than it used to be believe me. Skyoe crashed a lot on mac but windows it’s running like a dream. I’m using it now.

I remember, and he wrote skype about this on twitter, but  they were not very clear on their answer. All they said was skype 7 would go followed by electron. 8 I think is going to stay and be integrated with windows  at some point.

I do find Skype 8 to be the fastest Skype we have on Windows, but I'm not ready to say it has as many features as Skype 7 or UWP. It does report online status, when available, in the Conversations list.

Go to skype.com and find the download page. Then find the 8 preview link. This is the one you want to get, I think?

When I tried Skype 8 on Windows, and it have no option for checking my voicemail.. It is basically for Windows 10, and I have Windows 7 as my computer's OSSo I switched it back to Skype Classic

Yeah I couldn’t agree more Mike.  When i first tried Skype 8 on the mac, I tried it briefly, I decided to totally abandon it, and have switched to zoom.

What concerns me, is the interface. Particularly the contacts list. People I know who are screen reader users, have complained that in Skype 8, they have no way to know when someone is either online, offline, away, Etc. Then of course, there's the confrence call thing, sending ims and command structure as a whole and so forth. I've heard reviews from both the sighted and the blind, and unfortunately, none of them have been good. Basically, many people are saying, "what the heck did microsoft do to this program?" That's not actually the way I wanted to put it, but I didn't want to come out and curse on the list. But trust me when I say, people are hating this new version.  Just in case, I'm also looking into another voip program.

I think there is an option, but you need to be in the chat. I was able to do it a few days ago. Actually now I just send audio clips from my phone to my contacts. Those actually sound better than the voicemail thing in my humble opinion.

Re: Sorry folks

No problems. Can you report that to the nvda groups which is also on groups.io to see what is  going on? Maybe it’s nothing, or a setting that needs to be changed etc.

Take care and be blessed.

It was me who sent the email with all the messed up characters in it.  I use both Jaws and NVDA and sometimes when I have to switch between them, this little issue happens.  Doesn't happen all the time but when it does it is a real pain.  Again, sorry for the confusion.
