Actually skype is oging to depricate the ksype name on all skypes at some point. . By the way you can check voicemails on skype 8. It’s on the chat window. They are actually sent as media thing s from the phone. I dunno how to do it yet on the mac or windows but I’m drifting off topic here.

I do not like the idea on not able to use a Skype name for making a account, and it makes things harder

Hi all,

I have discovered that Skype 8 do not work very well with Windows 7 because it makes things harder for me to check my voicemail on Skype 8. It doesn't very work well with Windows 7, and there ain't any ways to check your voicemail on Skype 8 becuase it is used for Windows 10 users. Skype 7.5.9 works better than the new version of Skype because I can check my voicemail on that one than the newer version of Skype.

I tried Skype 8, but it did not work out because I was unable to check my voicemail, and I do not have Windows 10, but only Windows 7. I switched back from Skype 8 to Skype 7.5.9, and it makes things easier because I use JAWS as an screenreader

I wrote a basic Skype 8 NVDA add-on a while back; it is posted at http://www.dlee.org/skype/electron/skype.nvda-addon

Skype UWP is best covered by Joseph Lee's Windows 10 App Essentials, which can be had via the page opened from the NVDA Tools > Manage Add-ons dialog, Get Add-ons button.

I consider the three Windows skypes thus:
- Skype 7, Classic, is the most feature complete but also at some undetermined point destined to go away.
- Skype UWP for Windows 10 is next in line for features, but last I checked, it was not fully feature-complete and could sometimes be sluggish to react to keystrokes. I believe there has been an update to this version that I
  have not yet examined though.
- Skype 8 I find to be the fastest to react of them all but also to be the least feature-complete.

Btw, for anyone on this list who is at the NFB convention in Orlando, I am here also. The easiest way to find me, other than chancing to bump into me in meetings or hallways, is probably to tweet at me at doug_lee42.
