Oh does that keystroke still owrk? Given that there i sno calls menu in skype 8 I was not sure, or even a way to envoke a call from the right click menu of a chat would be nice. Oh well. I’ll try that today. Failing that, is there an icon or option in the chat itself?

starting a skype call from a skype chat in skype 8 for mac

Sarah k Alawami

I cannot start a skype call in skype 8 for mac from a chat. I know there is a way, however I don’t see it if I hit enter on a chat. Is there a way to do this? I start chats with my students then place the calls from there, or did in skype 7. I’m learning as much as I can about skype 8 as it has gotten better but yeah. There are a few things that need to go away first before I deem it perfect, but any feedback I send never seems to be enacted upon. Anyway, how can I start a skype call from a chat? I have work today-and cannot really afford to be late again.

Take care all.

I noticed the volume in JAWS dropping then a skype call came in, But went back to normal once I either answered, or just left it for a second.
It stopped doing that quite some time ago.

Hi all,
I remember doing this a long long time ago. Obviously when Windows
updated, something changed.
Thanks to Bill White for the reminder.
It worked well with the two people I reached out to.
Perhaps it is a chunk of knowledge you might want to save.
Larry
See below.

Windows Automatically Reduces System Volume for Games & PC Calls

While you are using your PC to place or receive calls or while you are
playing games which use PC calls feature, Windows automatically reduces the
system volume without even asking you.

Actually its a new feature introduced in Windows 7 which can be disabled
using the following simple steps:

1. Open "Sound" applet from Control Panel.
Or right-click on Speaker icon present in system tray and select "Playback
devices" or "Recording devices" or "Sounds" option.
2. Now go to "Communications" tab and check the option "Do nothing" and
click Okay.
3. That's it. Now Windows will no longer reduce the system volume.

Lol. Yeah Woopsy doodle.

Anyway check you comunications settings under sound properties to see if that's the cause. I had a similar issue a while ago and tht's what I was told.

Take care

Just letting you know you highjacked this thread and sent your message twice, or maybe groups.io glitched on the second point but please do not highjack this thread, or anyt hread, start a new one please. The next time this happens you will be on a week ban. Thanks. This is a gental reminder to all. The reason I bring this up is I don't want to have to split the topic. That is going to be a mess so I'd rather that people just start a new thread if they have a question. I'll do it this time but not again.

in the sound applet in the control panel, Windows can automatically
adjust the volume of different sounds when you are using your PC to
place or receive telephone calls in the Communications property sheet.
how about changing "When Windows detects communications activity:" to
"Do nothing radio button checked. did it help?
