Control-2 takes you to recent messages.
You’ll see Today’s messages, Yesterday, and older than a week.
If you click on Older Than A week, all messages will appear.
Delete until they’re gone.
Otherwise, go to Options control-T, then O, and in the first option, if you
tab over to History, you can set it to No History.

Dear Skypers,
I'd like to ask if anyone has already played with the new UWP scripts. I'm unable to convince my Jaws 18 to recognise them, it acts as if no scripts were installed.
With a bit of patience, Skype UWP can be used without scripts. But since our great Dug has worked so hard these last weeks to make them available, the least we can do is try and use them. Therefore, any tips will be appreciated.
Once more, thanks Dug for the great work, we're all more than grateful to you.
Warm regards,

Skype for Windows Desktop 8.11 comments
Doug Lee
Now that I have released initial Skype UWP scripts, I have moved on to a quick examination of the new Skype for Windows Desktop 8.11. I
apologize in advance for the fact that I'll be out at a work site for the next two weeks and likely won't have much more time to tinker with this sort of thing, but here's what I can say after maybe an hour of looking at this: JAWS automatically enables the virtual cursor. This is usually helpful, as it turns out; because it means you can get to any part of the interface that is visible. However, for certain tasks like moving through lists, such as a chat history list, it is helpful to turn the virtual cursor off. Use Ins+Z to turn the virtual cursor on and off as needed. Volume sliders, such as for speaker volume, always say 0 for their value even when they are not at 0%. Specifically for the speaker volume, Left and Right arrows do change the value even though the correct value is not made available to assistive technology such as JAWS. If you can't find a feature you're expecting in Skype, look for "More Options" buttons. Many of the features are hiding behind those things. Examples include Hold Call, Share Screen, and Audio and Video Settings. There is a button that may say "Time," "Unread," or "Active." This is a menu button. Press Space on it with the virtual cursor active, and you should land in, or at least be able to find, a menu for setting how to sort and/or filter the conversation list. This menu also allows you to choose between Standard and Compact views, though I have not experimented with these to see the effects of changing that setting. If you see things that should have vanished, like a menu you just used that seems to remain hanging around unexpectedly, try the JAWS refresh command, Ins+Esc. In the unlikely event you want to tinker with Skype for Windows Desktop 8.11 on Windows 10, despite Microsoft's insistance that only Skype UWP run on Windows 10, here's how to do it: 1. Download Skype for Windows Desktop 8.11 from https://go.skype.com/windows.desktop.download 2. Open the download folder and move to the new download, then open Properties for it via Alt+Enter or the Applications menu. 3. Move to the Compatibility tab, such as with Ctrl+Tab. 4. Check the box for running in compatibility mode, then in the combo box that becomes available, choose Windows 8 (probably the default. 5. Close the Properties box with Enter, then launch the Skype for Windows Desktop installer. If you don't go through the Compatibility dialog changes, Windows will simply ask you to install Skype from the Store and will abort the Skype for Windows Desktop installation. -- Doug Lee dgl@... http://www.dlee.org Level Access doug.lee@... http://www.LevelAccess.com "I honestly believe it is better to know nothing than to know what ain't so." - Josh Billings, 1818-1885 (in "Solemn Thoughts")

Delayed Skype UWP (Skype for Windows 10) JAWS Script Release Announcement
Doug Lee
Apologies for my tardiness getting to messages (and, as it turns out, announcements) on this list. My plans were disrupted almost simultaneously by a brief hospital visit for a small kidney stone, thankfully now gone, and a computer mess that knocked out my personal email access for two days.
I wrote the below announcement before releasing the Skype UWP scripts but couldn't post it. Since my release though, I discovered (late last night actually) that there is a serious performance problem affecting the Search feature in Skype UWP that is a bug in my code. Keep that in mind as you read below and decide if and when to try Skype UWP and/or the scripts I wrote for it. Now, the original announcement: People have long been asking me if I would do this, and a few Saturdays ago I finally started... but please please, read this entire message before jumping to the download link. TL;DR: New Skype UWP scripts, but Skype UWP doesn't give us everything we're used to; so decide carefully whether to play with this. I have scripted Skype UWP, also called Skype for Windows 10. The scripts will not work with any JAWS version older than 18.0, sorry to say; because JAWS 17.0 and older do not load scripts for this type of application. I consider the scripts helpful, but I consider Skype UWP itself to have some severe shortcomings as a Skype client. To name a few: - There are no global hotkeys for things like muting/unmuting your mic, focusing the Skype window, etc. See below for how to answer an incoming call though. - It is cumbersome to dial digits into an existing call, such as to access a private mailbox or enter a conference security code. - Recent Skype UWP revisions do not let us see user presence indicators (Online, Away, Do Not Disturb, etc.). More recent versions replace these with indicators like "last seen 1 hour ago" though. There is a way to answer an incoming call, though many people seem not to know it and I only learned of it two weeks after starting this scripting effort: - When you hear the call arrive, type Windows+V to focus its notification. This is a Windows 10 keystroke that cycles among active Action Center notifications. - JAWS will announce the caller identification information. - Tab to the button you wish to use in response: Audio for an audio call, Video for an audio/video call, Ignore to ignore the call, etc. Skype UWP is evolving rapidly even now, so it is also possible, indeed likely, that script features that work today may stop working tomorrow. This is why I waited so long to start scripting this client, in hopes of reducing the frequency of such occasions. All that said, here's what I have: http://www.dlee.org/skype/uwp/ will take you to my typical-style script release page. This page of course contains a link to the current script installer, and also a link to the manual. Here's what's different about my plans for the Skype UWP scripts as compared to my other scripting projects: 1. Because Skype UWP updates are both free and often automatic, I will far more readily assume that everyone is running, or will run, the latest Skype UWP revision available in the Microsoft Store. For this reason, my website will at any moment only contain the latest release of the scripts and no older copies. 2. I will update the scripts online as often as warranted by circumstance and permitted by time and energy, but I will probably not announce every update I make because sometimes that may be a few in one day. I will document every update I make there though, so simply visiting the above URL will let you read what's been happening. 3. Since Microsoft is adopting a similar development strategy and pushing out updates whenever warranted, many versions of Skype UWP may actually be running out there on any given day. With each update I post to the scripts, I will write not only the script revision number but also the Skype UWP version number (or numbers) against which I wrote the new code. If you download a script update and things don't work as expected, check the Skype UWP version number on my page against what you get from the Ctrl+JAWSKey+V command while focused in Skype UWP. If they differ, go update your Skype installation from the Store. If that gives you a newer version than I wrote about yet, feel free to tell me on the SkypeEnglish mailing list that I may need to upgrade Skype UWP myself. :-) Further Strongly Recommended Reading: First, go to the manual from the above link and check the final "Known Issues" section to see if any known problems are severe enough to make you reconsider running Skype UWP. Then, in the same manual, check the subsections under "Using Skype UWP With JAWS and The Scripts" for information on how to use Skype UWP itself and these scripts with it. -- Doug Lee dgl@... http://www.dlee.org Level Access doug.lee@... http://www.LevelAccess.com "Our chief want in life is somebody who will make us do what we can. {Ralph Waldo Emerson}

Skype UWP
Vlad Dragomir
Greetings,
I felt brave this morning and decided to try the new Skype app. It seems very different from the desktop version, but surprisingly enough, many things are pretty accessible. However, I couldn't test the new scripts because they don't seem to load. I tried everything: quitting and restarting Jaws, restarting the computer, uninstalling and re-installing the scripts, no way. Insert + q only reports: "Default Settings: Microsoft.skype app". I don't know what else to try so I give up for the time being. In spite of this, this app seems to be quite usable, each button is labeled and they explicitely say what they do. I haven't made calls yet, I haven't tried to send/receive files, so we'll see how things work in the future. And I couldn't figure out how to change the language either, but that's not a big deal at least for me. That's it for the moment. If I discover new things, I'll report back to the list and would be curious to know about other experiences, if anyone has more to share. Best regards and a great early weekend to everybody. Vlad.

skype scripts revision released
All I have is two sets of tweet text for now but here is what doug said about his scripts as well as a link.
JAWS scripts for Skype UWP, aka Skype for Windows 10, released. Beware there are bumps but it's usable. Read the users guide and note the Known Issues section. Link to that and download are at http://www.dlee.org/skype/uwp/ Second tweet: Heads up re my last tweet: The JAWS scripts for Skype UWP (Skype for Windows 10) will only install and run in JAWS 18 and later because older JAWS versions do not support the scripting of UWP apps. I'm sure that all is there on the website linked to in said first tweet. Take care all and be blessed.
