Respected friend, yes this command still works and sometimes I use to use this command in order to quit Skype quickly!

Hi!

As i haven’t used JAWS for years, I’d forgotten that keystroke in the JAWS scripts for Skype; I know that the person asking about quitting Skype is a JAWS user, and I could still remember the system tray keystroke for JAWS. If the alt+shift+F4 twice keystroke still  works with the JAWS scripts, that’s obviously a quicker way to quit Skype than going to the taskbar or the system tray.

Hi!

Another way of quitting Skype is to go into the system tray, insert+11 with JAWS, then hit s for Skype, then hit the Applications key, the q for Quit. That's the method I use, not very different from the method explained below, apart from the first step.

Alt+F4 only minimizes the Skype window, that keystroke hasn't allowed us to quit Skype for a long time.

Bye for now, and happy skyping!

hi tom

let's do thisstep by step.

1. alt t for tools and up arrow to options.

2. tab four times to start Skype when I start windows - this should be

unchecked if you want to launch Skype at a time of your choosing and

not every time you open windows.

3. tab to save.

it is no longer possible to close Skype using alt f4 as you would with

other programmes and applications.

there are several ways to close Skype and the one I find easiest and

quickest is:

1.  press windows t

2. select Skype by pressing the letter s

3. press the application key and hit q for quit. jaws will say,  quit

Skype 2 of five. press enter.

Here is the message fro the nvda list in its integrity.

Hi.

Well I just decided to update skype for windows desktops.

It sadly appears that skype the new skype sadly is not even closed to accessible.

Buttons for contacts and messages appear ok but over that there is a lot of clickable, clickable, clickables.

The settings tab was completely inaccessible though I was able to set it up just fine.

I really hope ms is going to keep skype classic, you can get round this right now by typing skype setup full in google and it will find you the old one but how long this will stay out is anyone's guess.

I can't even get the right click menu in system tray to work.

If anything else all I really want is ms to keep skype classic available for those that want it, they don't need to do anything to it, I'd prefur a simple classic skype for us blind people but failing that if skype stays as it is well.

I just can't loose skype all my business and other stuff goes through it.

Its not an option, but if skype becomes crap, I may have to use an old version or even just no longer use skype because its crap now!

No, I can't even do that, the new interface I just can't get round it, I have been happily able to reinstall skype classic and update it with the latest classic version.

You need to look for the classic version now.

This is not on.

And it appears the new app won't run on the latest win10 which itself is fine but to be honest the classic skype is really accessible.

First, if you can get it, tell me the version number of the Skype that's giving you trouble on Windows. Skype for Desktop, the classic one
we've all used, is up to 7.40. Skype UWP is currently at 11.19. I don't yet know a version number for the new Skype Desktop.

Second, if you're seeing a web-like interface, where you use NVDA's Browse Mode, that's not Skype UWP. Skype UWP is an app you tab through
and has no HTML regions I've seen. You saying "clickable" is what made me wonder this.

Last, I see many labels in Skype UWP; so I'm surprised you say you're not seeing labels for controls.

11.19.0.856:
I started scripting this one on Saturday and hope to have a script
release soon. I will also be including what I believe to be a
comprehensive keyboard shortcut list for it in the documentation. If
anyone has a pointer to existing Microsoft documentation on Skype
UWP
keyboard shortcuts though, please send it here.
New Skype for Windows Desktop, formerly called Skype Preview for
Desktop:
This will not install on my Windows 10 machine, at least without
some bizarre finagling; so I plan to finish and release my first
round of
scripts for Skype UWP before tinkering with this one. I am aware,
though, that it has started landing on some computers out there via
automatic Windows updating. I admit I did not expect that so soon,
having only learned about this Skype version on Saturday.

Re: Scripting Plans for Skype

Doug Lee

I have not tried Skype UWP with NVDA, but your description does not sound right; so I again wonder if you're talking about a different Skype
version.

Watch out, this command is only valid with JAWS scripts by Doug Lee. I think Clare uses NVDA instead, so she’s justified if she did not know it.

Okay…think I have it figured out; the thing I really was trying to get rid of was that “Skype Home” thing (I don’t know exactly what I did, but it’s not bothering me anymore!  I did find that by going to the system tray, I can get rid of the “Skype trademark” thing!  Thanks for bearing with me as it has been a long time since I have done anything with this Skype thing!  The main reason I’m doing it now is because I am going to be trying these ESight glasses…and Skype seems to be their “communication of choice!”  Now about these scripts: how do I know that I have them installed correctly?  I don’t see any difference as to how Skype was working before!  Are there still certain commands you can do to make Skype do different things?  Is it still “alt-page up to start a call and alt-page down to finish?  Or have I got that backwards?  Sorry, but like I said…has been a long time…and truthfully I liked GW Connect better!  And I did test to see if this even works…and yes…there is a degradation in quality!  Thanks for listening and for your patience!

I've not seen the whole chat here but I'm assuming you are trying to
get your chats to open in separate windows.

if so, alt v for view, arrow down twice and then press the space bar.
jaws should then say compact view sidebar checked. you wil then chats

Yes you are missing a lot of things.

1.

You need to change your view which should be split windows.

2.

You need to do the following settings.

Go to tool/option/general.

Here you need to check first checkbox and uncheck the second checkbox.

Now go to sound setting and makesure that all checkboxes are checked.

Then go to notification and makesure that all checkboxes are checked.

Then go to advance setting there you will find 3 advance settings.

Marrious was talking about the first one.

In the second advance you need to check the first checkbox which is about
your hotkeys so you can take your call and hangup your calls by pressing
alt+pageup and alt+page down respectively.

At the end you need to check accessibility.

Now save all the settings!

Go to Tools/Options/Advanced settings. Look for a check box labelled

hi tom

I've not seen the whole chat here but I'm assuming you are trying to
get your chats to open in separate windows.

if so, alt v for view, arrow down twice and then press the space bar.
jaws should then say compact view sidebar checked. you wil then chats
will open in separate windows.

Well I finally decided to try hitting the tab key; that got me the check

completely close the skype window!

Oh and as for these scripts.I think I have them installed, but see
absolutely no difference in how Skype is looking! Maybe I'm not doing
something right?

Hi Tom. If you're running Windows 7 and higher, do the following:

Go to Tools/Options/Advanced settings. Look for a check box labelled
"Keep
Skype in the task bar while I'm signed in," and uncheck it, then save the
setting.

Hope this helps.

Subject: [skypeenglish] Am Connected To Skype Now But Have Another
Question

Hello again list: Thanks to all for responding to my earlier question
concerning not being able to connect to Skype! I now have the latest
version, but I have another question; I cannot seem to get Skype to
close!
I keep hitting alt-F4, but Skype keeps re-appearing! Now I know that I
haven't used Skype in such a long time.but I thought I could at least
keep
it from appearing in the window until I wanted it to; now I cannot seem
to
close it, no matter what I do! What am I missing here?

Thanks,

Tom Kaufman
