Yeah, i was going to mention zoom, as an alternative for the stuff your doing Sarah. I’ve never actually been on a meeting on it, but just taking a brief quick look at it, the interface seems quite accessible. A podcaster from Lithuania whose podcast I’m subscribed to, he podcasts about pipe organs, and any organ related stuff, uses it to bring in his guests, and my experience is that the audio quality is very good,

Yeah I was afraid of that. I might have to talk to my boss to see if they can switch to zoom, but their internet is so bad over there it's probably not going to work. I hope they get skype to sound better. I remember the days when theyused to have very good sound quality.
yup that's exactly what the audio quality sounds
like on the newer versions.

I'm on a 50 mb down connection and a I so I should not be getting
what sounds like an under water sound when students talk to me. I'll just
keep fighting it I guess. Lol!

I could be mistaken. But, I’m using windows 7 desktop, with Skype
7.4, and the audio’s excellent, and rare dropped calls.
Internet speed varies depending on provider.
I’m wondering if that’s not a factor.

I've
noticed that as well. I'm a bit worried that if I can't understand
what my students are sayig in a few years because of skype I might be out of a
job.
Take care
Agreed,
Michael. I find too, that when you get into a conference call, at
least on the mac side, that when nobody is talking, you get this constant
hiss, and then when somebody speaks, the noise goes away. I’ve noticed
lately too, that the audio quality seems to have gone down in later versions
as well, it just doesn’t seem as crisp and clear to me as before.

I really wish they would fix the bandwith issue. As it
stands now, with the newer versions of the desktop skype you can't seem to

Hi all.
I'm using Skype 7.4 now, on
Windows 7 with the new scripts. It's working fine. And, that's the
problem. Microsoft can't seem to leave well enough alone. it's
working, and they still seem to want to fix it; vary
annoying.

Hi Sarah, I guess like you
we are also. I had a client that downloaded the windows version, and
we ended up downloading the desktop version from the web
site. Many things will be going away with windows 7, at least what
I'm hearing.

I'm behind, but what shall
we say evidence leads you to believe the ditch might be sooner then
2020? Just trying to see big picture here.

As I said, I have not scripted that one. I
need to hear if anyone has solid evidence of when Microsoft plans
to ditch Skype Desktop. My
assumption so far is that we
have about three years before that happens, but I'm starting to
wonder.

I can't see a skype
icon, nor does skype show as running in the window list
though it activates when a call comes in.
I see no
menus...
Thanks,
